The Works
The project was the façade remediation of two residential buildings in Peckham, named Sarawak Court and Dayak Court, at five and six storeys respectively, both buildings were of reinforced concrete construction, with single leaf blockwork infill and rendered elevations. The scope of the works was to replace the existing cladding with an external wall system that was suitable for current design standards.
We visited site to inspect the cladding backing structure and provided a report of our initial findings, this included records of any defects found and our recommendations for remediation. Within this process we confirmed if any further intrusive investigations, additional design/calculations, or changes to the design of the cladding support system were required.
In addition to the above, we also provided calculations of the backing structure to assess whether the existing panels and their support/restraint details, had sufficient capacity to transfer the cladding loads back to the primary structure. If not, we provided recommendations and strengthening details to ensure a complete robust system.
