Gingerbread City: The Symmetrys Snickerdoodle Stack
December 2025
In December, Symmetrys brought architecture and imagination together to be a part of the annual Gingerbread City. A festive installation built entirely from gingerbread, run by The Museum of Architecture. Designed and constructed by a team of six, led by Chloe Neal, the project took shape from early concept ideas through to a fully constructed and entirely edible residential block within the playful gingerbread city.
The Snickerdoodle Stack is a reimagined gingerbread “residential block” designed around community and inclusivity. Topped with a communal terrace and garden, the building invites exploration, with cosy seating, textured planting and sensory details engaging sight, smell and touch for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
Despite its whimsical form, accessibility was central to the design. Ramps, wide corridors, gentle slopes and a central lift ensured every level is easy to reach, while bright colours and friendly signage helped people find their way. A sweet little landmark, The Snickerdoodle Stack perfectly captured the spirit of shared creativity that ran through the entire project.
