The Works
The complex conversion of a nightclub into a bank, in a shopping centre in central Middlesborough.
As well as the challenge of finding High-Alumina Cement (HAC) concrete within the structure, works included the creation of new openings for the banks facade, and the creation of new floor voids to accommodate new staircases. We increased the floor capacity to accommodate the weight of safes, in -filled existing stairs and floor voids, and refurbished part of the basement in order to house a new substation.
The basement had previous high water tables, causing constant flooding, so new sumps and tanking systems had to be installed.
