The Works

With the collaboration of a forward-thinking client and a collaborative design team, the project challenges of Fairstone Apartments became much easier.

This carefully considered development in Ealing, with SMC Property and OAOA Architects, delivered 21 homes across three separate blocks, each arranged around a landscaped courtyard.

The site was located on Langley Silts, and the soil had low bearing capacities. As a result, innovative substructure solutions were implemented, including a basement formed under one of the buildings, with contiguous piles acting as retaining walls. The remaining buildings had beam and block ground floor slabs supported by suspended ground beams and piles.

The team’s challenges did not end there. The superstructure features complex cut roof spaces with vaulted ceilings, allowing our client to maximize the occupancy space. Carefully coordinated frames were installed within the roof, creating beautiful internal living spaces.
