The managing agents for Gateway House, Trent Park Properties LLP employed Symmetrys to act as their Structural Engineers to remove combustible materials in the buildings external render.
Poor structural blockwork was discovered at high levels of the building, just below the roof lines, adjacent to neighbouring properties. Due to the lightweight nature of the blocks, there was a concern that any mechanical fixing would not ‘hold’ and therefore they would require a Structural Engineer to advise on a suitable solution to stabilize the blockwork and provide sufficient strength.
Symmetrys reviewed, reported, and advised on a suitable and simple solution to remediate these areas so new cladding could be applied.
Symmetrys also reviewed and commented on typical connection details and provided calculations between the new cladding system and the existing building. This included a review on the cladding specialist’s details.
