This proposal aimed to deliver 110 retirement living units as well as communal facilities comprising a Wellness Centre and Larder Restaurant. The proposed site was located within The Greenbelt close to Chigwell Village, with spectacular views across the Roding Valley. The aim was to develop a proposal that integrated with the site’s rural landscape setting while providing contemporary, high quality and accessible dwellings with on-site care facilities to meet local demand. Our design solution means surface water discharge from the development is designed to mimic the existing flow patterns of the greenfield site.
The proposed attenuation lagoon stores surface water runoff and hydrobrake outfall limits flow rates to greenfield rate before discharging into an existing ditch course, thus maintaining the current method of drainage disposal. The attenuation lagoon increases biodiversity by offering wildlife benefits and provides an added aesthetic value.
