Symmetrys were employed to design the structural refurbishment of the ground floor reception area at the Scouts Main Head Quarters at Gilwell Park. New steel beams were introduced to enable load bearing walls to be removed. Calculations were provided in order to check that the remaining masonry walls had sufficient capacity to transfer lateral wind loads and well as vertical loads.
