The Works
Symmetrys were appointed to carry out the structural and civil engineering design work for this new community centre in Dagenham.
The objective were to create an integrated, open-to-all centre to provide facilities for the community’s needs, while assisting with regeneration in the area.
The scheme included the demolition of the existing building and the erection of a steel framed structure, incorporating a main activity space that accommodates 350-450 people.
The new community centre will also be a place for research and project incubation into ways of tackling the root causes of poverty, mental and physical health and isolation. Work will be done with young people and families to assist with parenting and relationship support, personal development and life skills.
