This project was the complete refurbishment of a large detached house in Hampstead. The property was converted from four flats, and was transformed into a large four-storey family home with the additional benefit of two one-bedroom apartments.
Symmetrys design works included the substructure and superstructure designs for a new double storey rear extension, large loft extension and re-modelling on all floors.
Site investigations indicated favourable conditions for soakaways and, in close coordination with the Landscape Architect, swales were introduced to encourage biodiversity.
The scheme is both functional and increases biodiversity, adding value to the development and a greater sense of place for residents. In addition, the chosen SuDS elements meet the highest priority of the drainage hierarchy meeting all planning requirements.
