The Works

This project was the refurbishment of a Victorian terraced house in Islington, London.  The entire property was reconfigured from top to bottom.

Load bearing walls and chimneys were removed to create a larger living areas. Steel frames were designed and carefully inserted to replace the stability of the walls and transfer the loads safely back into the ground.

The property was entirely underpinned throughout in order to create larger floor to ceiling heights in the lower ground floor.  The rear garden was also excavated with the installation of underpins along the boundary walls. Finally a new single storey rear extension was constructed within the new lowered ground floor space at the rear of the property.
