The Works

This sensitive project extended the existing senior common room building, which is Grade 1 listed and dates from 1676.

Chris Atkins was the structural engineer for the glass elements including the façade, the balustrades and the featured staircase. Weathered oak louvres sat outside the structural glass box on a flitched steel and oak frame. The new part of the first floor dining room cantilevers into the garden, while the concrete element of the structure respects the existing building line.
